Dance Empowerment
Performance and Dance Class
Our first in-person activation of the Conversations around the Table development project is Dance Empowerment. Jammy Lo came to Open Heart with an idea to empower people through dance. She wanted to teach a dance class that would build endurance and that was embedded with self defense moves.
We engaged choreographer Josh Taylor from Defining Movement Dance as a choreography mentor and Emily Kulpaka from Determination Martial Arts to provide instructional support for self defense.
Over the course of six weeks, Jammy and Josh have created the foundation of a choreographic work which will become part of the our culminating full length presentation in April 2022.
Another fantastic outcome of this collaboration is that Jammy is teaching her own style of dance class .
Drop in - every Wednesday 530-6 at The Music Hall 24 Main St W Hamilton. Open to every body!
